Super Women Achieving Great Goals
History, Mission & Vision
SWAGG LLC was founded in 2010 by a group of young, creative women who wanted to use their platform to inspire and share resources with other artists. The group of seven eventually dwindled to two, S'Sence Adams and Nakara Forjé. In 2018, the passing of S'Sence rocked the artist community to it's core, while simultaneously motivating her best friend Nakara to take her artistry and community leadership more seriously. Following the release of her #lovehangover EP, Nakara started the #deependchallenge swim initiative that added workshops and youth programming under the umbrella of SWAGG and breathed new life into the brand.
Through the arts, intentional community building and culturally relevant education experiences, SWAGG is committed to cultivating healing and creativity in Black women and girls worldwide. This is specifically done through music, events, workshops and youth programming. Everything centers the growth and wellness of Black women, continuously creating platforms to celebrate the brilliance Black women add to our communities. As co-founder of SWAGG LLC, Nakara has curated over 40 events in the Twin Cities and beyond including hip hop showcases, community celebrations, fashion shows, workshops and panel discussions.
Current events include Black Girl Joy™, Midwest Curated™ and #thedeependchallenge™. The #deependchallenge has been one of the most impactful creations, taking the principles of swimming and pairing them with life situations to remove the mental and emotional barriers that keep black women from swimming figuratively and literally. Midwest Curated* is a traveling showcase for upcoming artists to build networks in different cities throughout the Midwest Region. And Black Girl Joy is a space for Black women to feel seen, safe and celebrated. For more information on any of these events, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
